CHARITIES

Rotaract volunteers and supports a number of local and international charities. Below you will find information on some of the charities we support and ways that you can help!

Happy Quarters

At each meeting we go around and describe something that we are happy for. This can be as trivial as a beautiful sunny day, or as important as landing a new job. The suggest amount to donate if you are happy is $0.25, though often our members will donate more than this, especially if they are REALLY happy that day.

When our Happy Quarters fund reaches $25, the members will play a game, the winner of which gets to choose a charity to be the recipient of the money. Furthermore, Rotaract will match the Happy Quarters amount, so that we are able to donate $50 to the organization in need.

So far Happy Quarters has allowed Rotaract to make donations to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Canada and the Crisis Outreach and Support Team. We look forward to making contributions to many more organizations.

Winning Charities so far: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Canada

INCITE - A Support Group for Single Moms (link)

INCITE A Single Moms support group is an organization that supports a prominent part of our community, that is growing and in need. Our group offers a support system, guidance, direction, solutions and opportunities for empowerment. Our goal is to help all single moms and their children to grow and flourish in mind, body and soul. We offer weekly support meetings, a childrens program, social outings, philanthropy events, a focus on healthy living, a mentor program and affordable counseling.

This year Rotaract ran a new toy and book drive in order to make holiday gifts available to moms in need so their little ones would have something to open on Christmas. We were able to collect hundreds of new toys and books! Thanks to everyone who supported us! CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO

Medical Supplies for Nepal

Our founding President, Christa, had the pleasure of visiting the Rotaract Club of Dillibazar-Kathmandu, and while there made a generous donation to the club to help in the purchase of local medical supplies.

She sends her deepest thanks to the Rotaractors in Nepal for giving her and her husband such a warm welcome and showing them around!
